I visited the Community House before lunch today and found our VCAL students hard at work. Students were painting a passage way, working on some written plans and fixing iron onto their newly constructed shed. Our VCAL students spend a significant portion of their week at the community house and they have the place looking brilliant.
Hon Dr Sharman Stone MP made a special visit to the college today to officially present former student Nathan Dennis with an Australian Vocational Student Prize for his efforts in 2014. The award recognises outstanding commitment and achievements in the vocational education and training that Nathan undertook as part of his Senior VCAL certificate. Look out for a news item in a future edition of the Loddon Times.
Well done, Nathan!
A radio interview conducted with members of our VCAL group about the launch at ELP-12 of the Young Mothers Support Program, just prior to the holidays, generated some really positive feedback. A lady from Kangaroo Flat, on hearing the interview, was impressed with our girls project and community mindedness. Anne Gibson contacted the college and donated 8 hand knitted baby blankets and beanies to the YMSP for distribution to mums of newborns. Mr. Phelan met with Anne over the holidays and collected the blankets, who again expressed her delight in being able to help our girl’s community focused endeavor.
Thanks Anne, the VCAL team and the young mums of our district appreciate your fabulous donation. Any new mums in the district can contact the school and we can forward on Anne’s wonderful blankets!
